SMTP problem
« on: August 16, 2006, 01:56:59 pm »
Hi,

I receive the following message:

SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Checking mail.. Connected!
Verifying username and password... Failed!
Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Verifying username and password...Authenticating User/Pass... Verified!
Sending test email to remote address.. Problem setting receiver to Remote Test Address
The SMTP server is not configured correctly. Check your settings.

What am I doing wrong.
I have been reading the whole forum and I can't find the answer.

I use the same login and password for localhost and mailsettings: mail.url

Please advice!

regards,

Michel

Hi,

made a change.
In cpanel I made a bounce email account and that works, now I'm receiving the email but there is still something wrong:

[SMTP Server]
Is enabled?  Yes
Checking mail.. Connected!
Verifying username and password... Failed!Connecting to SMTP server.. Connected!
Verifying username and password...Authenticating User/Pass... Verified!
Sending test email to remote address.. Success!

Please advice on the failed part.

regards,

Michel

Michel,

On cPanel a setting of "localhost" should work with no AUTH or other authorization and a reconnect setting of "1000".

You should be able to set up bounce.cgi as per the following help page.

The "receiver address" error indicates you may have bounces disabled and have your Administrator Email set to an address not on the ListMail-installed domain.  What you should do is enable a bounce option and set the bounce address to one on the ListMail domain.
