Sending an Attachment to an Email

There is much to recommend about ListMailPro but my understanding of how to send an attachment to an email follow-up lacks some real understanding.   I get the email part but when I put in the file for the PDF attachment I want to sent with the email and then hit the add button and order a preview copy, it is not showing the attachment to the email when it arrives.  I have gone to my host and updated the permissions so that is not the problem.  Could it be that the preview simply does not show the attachment yet it actually travels with the email when it is laoded for delivery at a certain time?  Why can I not get this feature to work since it is advertised as piece of cake?

I don't know about the attachments part of your message, sorry.  I would say it just doesn't work in the preview part.  Try making a test list with your email on it and sending to it.  NOTE:  I always send to my test list like this first to make sure my email actually looks right.

Regarding using MS Frontpage / style sheets...  I gave up on Frontpage a while ago, not because of style sheets, but I found something I liked better, it's free and works well with style sheets and has a built in style sheet editor that works fairly well.  Even though I am no style sheets expert at all.

It's called "Kompozer", do a search for it spelled just like that and you should find it.  It's actually a non official bug release for a program called "Nvu".

It's a WYSIWYG editor but does less messing around with your code, etc...  Anyway sorry about not actually answering your main part of your post.  Just trying to help with the second part.

I will have to test this - it's possible.  To be sure you could set up a test list with one or two email addresses and try a "live" mail to that list to see exactly what your clients will.  If you do this let me know what you find out, or at least reply so I don't forget to check into this later today.

I'm not trying to downplay the importance of this feature for you, but I advise not sending an attachment at all.  Many messages, each with an attachment, can place a huge load on both the sending and receiving mail servers.  Instead I highly recommend simply publishing a link to your file hosted on your web site.

Thanks for the reply.
Kompozer may be an answer for me if my host will support Kompozer.
This is something I would find out ahead of time so I do not work my butt off using Kompozer to do what I want to do and then find out that my host will not support it.

I have now determined that the answer to my question is NO.

Not understanding what I am doing, I did not want to send out my email unless the attachment would travel with it and be down loadable, so I clicked on the SAVE button, thinking it would save the email until I figured out the delivery system.  However, the email went out anyway, so there is no save function when the follow-up is loaded. :?   Live and learn.  My technical skills are not good so I get killed on this stuff all the time. :oops:   Heck, I could not tell you if I even loaded the attachment properly. :oops:  :oops:   I put in the URL and hit the ADD button, but there is nothing in the instructions to tell me if this is the correct way or not, so I have zero sense of security in almost anything I do. :?

The failure did perhaps solve my problem, however, as I got an email from someone on my email lsit suggesting that I just use a link in the body of my email, sending the reader to my Blog for the down load in a PDF fiile.

Then I get your reply, DW, and this is also your answer.  It has been a tough lesson as I have literally wasted a month on this one simple solution simply because of my ignorance.  You learn pretty quick in this business that when you have technical knowledge and skill, an answer is 10 seconds away for the pro and a month away for the uninitiated newbie.

I know one thing for sure:  When I start making big money this Internet Marketing business, I will have earned every penny of it the hard way.
I am hopeful that I can now get on with another chapter in my life.

So, DW, I am still frustrated in trying to "simply publishing a link to your file hosted on your web site."

I wrote my email in MS Wrod on my C drive and put in the proper linkage to the file hosted on my web site.  I tested it and it worked as it should.
Then I copy my email and go to ListMailPro and insert the email in the followup option, and give it a preview test.  I open my email and the link does not work, telling me that by simply copying the file and putting in ListMail, ListMail breaks the link.  So then I try to create a link on ListMail and, of course, there is no hyperlink button to create the link.

DW, you need better instrutions in how to do this exactly, step by step, posted where someone can find it and follow it exactly so this will work.

If there is some guru secret to this share, tell me.  If not, specific, step by step instructions, please.

Hi Ed,

If you are sending text email then it is up to the email client to make the link clickable.  Is it possible your URL has a space in it?  Try replacing all spaces with %20 or removing spaces from your filename.
