Why are my followups not being sent???? Ack!!
« on: August 23, 2006, 10:54:08 am »
Logged on today to add some followups only to see that last night's are still stuck there.  When i try to resume i get this error:

Quote
Connecting to SMTP server...
Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to localhost:25 in /home/icrystal/public_html/crystal/mail/admin.php on line 966
Server not found!
Failed.

Check your SMTP settings!

I haven't changed anything so what's going on??  Monday's went fine, why the sudden issue now?

TIA

Hi Crystal,

This type of issue is normally related to web host services being down temporarily.  Has the problem since resolved itself?

I had members asking me where their emails were so I posted the issue at my example.com forum.  This is what she advised me to do:

Usually its a password. If that doesn't work uncheck SMTP Server and check Internal Sendmail and save.

So, I unchecked SMTP and off went my emails.
She went on to say that that is harder on you so if you can tell me what else i need to do i'll switch it back :)  Here is the original error i got:

 Connecting to SMTP server...

Failed.

When i checked the settings it said username and pass not needed.  Should i add them would that help?  I don't know what they are anymore though...

The error clearly indicates that the SMTP server would not accept the connection and reinforces my first suggestion.  I do not believe this is password related and I do not believe you need to change your authorization settings.  I suspect the server will 'return' shortly, if it hasn't already.
