First time setup
« on: July 01, 2006, 02:20:15 pm »
Hi Everyone

I'm new to this and just setting up

I have got to loading the tables and after a quiet a while get this message

Quote
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to MySQL server on '62.69.64.179' (145) in /var/www/domains/fancy-dress.net/Listmail/admin.php on line 2955
Could not connect to MySQL. Please check your MySQL database, username, password, and permissions and set up ListMail's config.php
MySQL Error: Can't connect to MySQL server on '62.69.64.179' (145)

I've copied the details sent to me by my ISP exactly as they are printed
I've tried "localhost" but that stops immediately, as does other combinations of username and password i.e. capitals.

I didn't load the latest version as the previous one was stable and I didn't want to complicate things to start with

I thought I was getting on so well

Best regards

Adele

Hi Adele,

Have you since managed to get it working?  Your web host will typically have an area in the "control panel" where you can set up MySQL databases.  In this section it should mention the correct 'hostname' if localhost, which means the same server as your web server, is not available.

Hi Dean

Thanks for the prompt reply

I copied the information exactly as it was emailed to me in lower case

Database name
Database user name
Database password
Database server IP address

I spoke with them yesterday but all they said they could do was to test it
I will ring again to check the spelling and case
There was nothing on the control panel other than MSQSL support which showed as active with no way to configure

Best regards

Adele

Hi Dean

Have been in touch with ISP and they have confirmed all the details were correct and in lower case

One point though, when I logged on to our site and listmail directory, I didn't get a log on screen or any indication that files were being uploaded untill I got the error message. Although when I tried the variations to config.php there was an instant error messege

Thanks again

Adele

Adele,

I unfortunately don't see your request in the support area.

Can you try again:

Adele,

I received your information and had a look.  It would seem that by all accounts your MySQL server does not respond at the IP address provided.  Can you please double-check with your host that we're using the correct access information?

Dean

I have contacted them and they have sent you an e-mail asking if you can give them some indication where the problem is

It appears that when they test it, it is OK
