GoDaddy Setup
« on: November 06, 2006, 10:11:48 pm »
Hi..Newbie here.

Getting this message. According to GoDaddy, I can't log remotely to my SQL because I am on a shared host. Is this going to cause a problem? I can access SQL by logging in at my control panel though.

You don't have permission to access /ListMail/admin.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I believe that is has been discussed before that GoDaddy is not a good host because they have a strict limit on sending emails, something like a limit of 250 emails per day allowed, which typically is not enough for most lists.

My suggestion is to not worry about the problems you are having and find a new host to start with...

You can install on GoDaddy however, as Mike mentions, there is an important limitation that may mean you need to switch hosts or get an additional one. The limitation is that they only allow 250 emails per day per account, which is not at all optimal for ListMail. I perform free installation if you go with any of the following shared hosts as my referral:

http://listmailpro.com/dreamhost (5000 messages/day)
http://listmailpro.com/h4p (10000-15000 messages/day)
http://listmailpro.com/thirdsphere (20000 messages/day)

If you require more emails per day and have a 100% opt-in list I may be able to offer hosting on one of my invite-only servers. If you require sending email to upwards of 75000 per day or more I recommend a dedicated 'root server' for $99/mo from 1&1 http://listmailpro.com/1and1 (I do setup for $250 and monitoring/updates/backup&restore for $30/mo).

No, this only applies to if you want to connect to MySQL from a server other than your web site/server.  MySQL is made available to programs running on your site such as ListMail.

This is somewhat strange.  /html/ListMail/login.php should be looking for the file in the ListMail folder.  This could be as simple as not setting up config.php.txt and renaming it to config.php:

I am not sure about this one.  Basically you should just have to upload the ListMail files into the folder, such as "ListMail", edit config.php.txt, rename it to config.php and upload it (or upload it then rename it remotely), then login by browsing to http://example.com/ListMail (or http://example.com/ListMail/index.php or http://example.com/ListMail/login.php)

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
