500 Internal Server Error

When pressing the "subscribe me" button on my web site i get an eror 500 Internal Server Error.  The user information is still passsed to the user database and the introduction message sent.
Any Ideas?

Try viewing the file signup.php remotely using your FTP program.  If the file is double-spaced you may need to re-upload it using the alternate transfer mode (ASCII / Binary).

".php" files should probably not be executable, so if the "chmod" permissions are "755" try making them "644" or "600".

ListMail should not be installed in the /cgi-bin folder of your site.  If you have installed to this folder, try making a new sub-folder off of your main public folder for ListMail instead.

If none of these help you may need to contact your host to view your site's "error_log" which should contain a more descriptive error message regarding the problem.

I have checked signup.php and it looks OK, the error_log has this entry;
