Problems with PHP mail in a windows environment
« on: September 14, 2006, 03:17:10 am »
Hi Dean,

Our hosting uses a Windows server and we seem to be having a problem using the PHP mail for sending the welcome emails and admin emails. At the moment Listmail is not sending any welcome emails or admin emails. Is there some way of getting Listmail to use SMTP for these emails?

If this is not possible, can you guide us on how to set this up?! Our web hosting guy has told us that on his system the PHP script needs to call the SMTP server in order to send an email. Is this a problem for Listmail? Is there a bit of coding that we can use as a work around? Is using PHP mail a common problem when using Listmail with Windows servers?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks for your help!

Sam

Hi Sam,

There isn't currently a way to send welcome and confirmation messages via SMTP.  Your host should be able to set up a link between PHP and the SMTP server to allow for PHP mail().

I've found some interesting results on Google - particularly this one.  It should be an easy fix for your host.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for that! Sorry for not replying earlier, but it took a little while to get resolved, but Listmail pro is running really well now! Thanks.
