Two websites, One installation?
« on: June 15, 2004, 07:29:01 pm »
ListMail is absolutely the best software I have ran
across in my short time on the Net, since 1998!  :D
Thanks for making such a great program available to
us ordinary folks.

Do have a few questions please.   :?:

I am in the process of creating 2 new sites. I want to
have Listmail on them. The 2 new sites will be hosted
on H4P where my "goseeus" site is already hosted.

Since I have it on my "goseeus" site , is there
a simple, easy way to add ListMail to the new sites?

Will I need to buy ListMail and install it on the
new sites?

Is there a way that I can route the
email from "mynewsite" to "goseeus"
thru the autoresponders on H4P?
Example:
Let's call my new site "ns" .
If I put up an autoresponder --  info@ns.com
and then forward it to an autoresponder on "goseeus"
and that "goseeus" autoresponder says:
"Pass the email to a program for processing".
|/usr/bin/perl /home/goseeus/goseeus-www/cgi-bin/ns-list1.cgi
Wouldn't that work?

If that would work, then could simply I change the
From Email Address: to show that the email
came from info@ns.com.

Thanks for your time,
Jim

Jim,

Thank you for your kind words about the program! It would be great if you could re-post your testimonial in the testimonial forum category.  Feel free to include a link to your site at the bottom!

You can either make a new installation or use one installation for multiple sites.  The only downside to using a single installation is that the URL of the site where ListMail is installed on will always show up on the Custom HTML pages. (subscribe confirm/success, remove confirm/success, etc.) and as the "bounce address", which is hidden in the headers of your email.  The "Send from Email" address for each list, used for display and replies, can almost always be set to anything you like as long as your bounce address is on the same domain as ListMail is installed.

This is often possible.  You could do it exactly as you suggested.  If it doesn't work, we might be able to make a small modification to the CGI script to allow it.
