Unique ID = 1 on signups
« on: April 25, 2006, 10:19:31 pm »
Hi, Dean.

Some people who sign up for my lists are being given the unique id 1. Unless I go in ListMail, unsubscribe them, and add them manually, they all have the unique id 1.

I have no idea why this is happening, but this has been going on for about a month now. I haven't upgraded to the latest version of ListMail so I don't know how to troubleshoot this one.

Thanks,
Shery

Do you know what version you are on?  In more recent versions you can view the version number at the top right of the ListMail Configuration page.  In older versions you can look near the top of the admin.php file.

If you are on a much older version you should probably upgrade to the latest stable release.  Some pretty serious bugs have been fixed over the last few updates.  One bug deals with duplicate UIDs slipping into the program in a certain version.  The resulting upgrade automatically filters out duplicate UIDs and assigns new ones.

It's quite easy to upgrade.  Simply download the new files, unzip, and FTP them over top of your old ones (main ListMail folder only, not the CGI scripts). Then, browse to the ListMail login page and wait for the (automatically detected) database update to complete.

If you continue to have troubles I will directly investigate the possibility of a bug in ListMail. I am confident we will be able to get this sorted very soon.

Hi, Dean.

I am using ListMail version 1.85. I have been using it since this January, but the unique ID = 1 on some signups started appearing about a month ago. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but of those signups, 60-70% of them were coming from AOL IPs, the rest are random. I'm getting at least 2 of these unique id=1 signups every day.

Thanks,
Shery

Is this still a problem?  I can't recall if I looked at this.
