Users subscribe but don't receive confirmation email

I've had several people who have subscribed but who never received their confirmation emails.  I went in and manually added them and they still didn't receive the confirmation email.

Any idea of what could be happening here?

When you try a test with one of your own addresses (not on the same server..), do you receive the mail?

If so, then the receiving site, ie AOL, may have you blocked for some reason.

I've been experiencing the same problem. I subscribe, and it says that the confirmation email has been sent, but it doesn't come through. I can send other emails to myself from the server without any problem. Any idea what might be happening? I know the address isn't being blocked

Do you receive your messages if you use the "internal PHP mail" sending method, as opposed to SMTP, and send a message to a test list?

Hi DW,

Yes. When I change from SMTP to PHP in the configuration page, and then add a new user manually, I still do not receive the confirmation email. The test email address is not at aol. It is a university (.edu) address, so I think it should go through. Even if I try a different address, I still get no confirm email.

Any other ideas of things I should try?

Changing the mail method from SMTP to PHP does not affect the welcome message.  All confirmation and welcome messages use PHP mail even with SMTP enabled to prevent too many connections to the SMTP server.

What I wanted you to do was change to PHP mail, then "Send Email" to a test list.  If you do not receive the messages then PHP mail may not work on your server and your host will need to look at it.

Hi DW,

Okay. I changed to PHP, sent a test email to myself on a test list, and it did not work.

Then I rechecked the sendmail configuration, restarted sendmail, and all seems to work fine!
