Users in a Database Get Deleted
« on: March 23, 2006, 05:30:10 pm »
Hi Folks,

Have any of you encountered this:

Without having any prior emails sent out a person on a mailing list gets deleted from the user database.

I've checked also that the person did not unbsubscribe or did the email to her bounce.

Could it have something to do with my server getting full (i.e. running out of storage space)?

Thanks.

Cheers
tony

Did you check if the user was unconfirmed? That's the first thing I can think of.

I can't think of a reason for this... Are you able to recreate the problem consistently?  You might try importing a number of test users to 'fill up' the database.

Hi Steve and Dean,

Thanks for your replies.

I don't think the people whose records were deleted unsubscribed from the list.

What I'll test will be to increase the bounce settings to 4 bounces in 30 days and see if folks on the list still get deleted. Realize that some other bounced messages happen because of full mailboxes, and worse yet email addresses which were entered incorrectly (e.g. janedoe@yahoo.cm instead of yahoo.com) when they signed up.

Thanks again.

Cheers
tony

... of course, mailboxes that get full might suggest that perhaps mail is not being read anyway. Incorrect addresses would not have been confirmed either as the address does not exist.
