welcome email upon manual update from unconfirmed to active.
« on: February 17, 2008, 04:14:24 pm »
if a user indicates that they didnt get the confirmation email and we wanted to move them from unconfirmed to active status... when we move them to active status will the normal welcome email get sent to the user that we just upgraded?

if not can you tell me if someone has done a hack to allow this to happen?

I am in need of this very feature.

Thanks,

Hi Richard,

This is unfortunately not possible but definitely a great suggestion.

Could you, perhaps, make do with manually adding the user and choosing the welcome email instead of the confirmation email?  This should overwrite the unconfirmed user, send them the welcome email and set them to active.

If you accept more than the users first and last name from your initial signup form this may be too much work because it means re-entering all of the users' data.

Thanks for the response but it wont be practical for me.

I have a situation where people are signing up for a free gift. Sometimes they don't see the confirmation email and they contact me to request the gift (which I link from inside the welcome email).

I wanted to be able to make them active and have the welcome email go out.

I don't want to have to manually re-enter their info.

Is what I am asking something that you could code for me? (for a fee of course)

I would be nice to be able to have a setting by list that if toggled on then manual edits of unconfirmed would activate and send welcome email for that list otherwise if toggled off it would work as it does now.

Thanks,

Hi Richard,

To avoid having to create a new setting, which I may decide to apply to a future update, what about a button on the user edit page, ie."Send Welcome Email".  I would be willing to perform that modification for as low as $50.  You can submit your site info here.

Alright This sounds good but I do have a few questions...

Is this how you planned it to work?

I click on Edit for the unconfirmed user, then I click the send welcome button (confirmation window opens, sends email in background... so the page doesn't refresh)  and then I change their status to confirmed?

So this welcome button will be available from any users edit screen with the ability for us to send out the welcome letter for the initial list they joined and where we are editing that user from?

-------------------

Can you design a second "send welcome & confirm" button to perform two functions?

First would send the welcome email and the second would be to change their status to confirmed automatically?.

This button wouldn't need to open confirmation in new window because we don't have to remain on the page to manage that user like we do on the first button description above.

If this is doable and how they would work I am very interested.

I will wait for your next reply and then submit to the place you asked me to.

Thanks,

Hi Richard,

The feature can work as you suggest.  Please go ahead and submit your info if you want to go ahead with this.  Be sure to include a link back to this post.
