ListMailPro Keeps Sending Same Message
« on: June 28, 2007, 04:57:45 pm »
ListMailPro keeps sending the same email that I sent out on Sunday. It has done this twice this week. I have no scheduled emails set. The only reason that I know that this is happening is from one of my own email addresses that I use to subscribe to each list to test. I have received the same email twice this week that I sent on Sunday. I also imported several users from another mailing list script that I was using and am receiving a ton of the user has been unsubscribed because of bouncing, which most of the address are yahoo addresses and I know that yahoo has gotten even more strict lately.

What could be the cause of this?

Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keith,

Very strange indeed.  It's possible your server's mail queue is completely overrun, flooded with messages and it's causing problems...  You're absolutely sure the same message came to the same email address and it wasn't just a delay, even if the delay might have been for a few days (ie. severe queue bottleneck)... ?  And the UIDs on the remove links in the messages - are those the same, too?

I have seen in very rare cases a server that will send duplicates but the web host always seemed to solve it themselves.  You may want to report these symptoms to your host so they can check on things.  I can assure you that ListMail only sends one message to each user when sending... As a message is sent it's row is deleted from the outgoing "queue" table (lm_sendq)  If this didn't happen correctly you might always see the "queue status" / "sending in progress" header at the top of the program asking you to Resume or Cancel.   If that didn't show up you might find rows in the "lm_sendq" table, if you know how to check that.. :)

So far it seems that your host should take a quick look at the server to make sure there isn't anything obvious in the logs.

If you continue to have troubles with this and feel I might be able to help please submit a bug report or add to an existing tech support ticket and I will check into it.

Hi Dean,

That's what I thought, that the mail queue was just backed up, but the dates in the header were the current date of the day that I received them. Unfortunately I deleted the first one, so I can't compare them. So far, it hasn't happened again, so maybe it was just a hiccup from the server. I am in the process of moving everything over to a VPS to see how that works. That's a learning experience in itself.

I looked at the "lm_sendq" table in phpmyadmin and it showed 0 records, so I am guessing that means it's clear. If I have this problem again, I will be sure to save all the emails and will let you know.

Thanks for your help,
Keith
