sendmail optimization?
« on: November 04, 2005, 08:19:14 pm »
I'm looking to get in touch with an administrator running a server that uses sendmail. I have little experience optimizing sendmail for large mailings and would like to come up with some optimizations I can recommend to my users.

I wonder if sendmail in it's default configuration sends fast enough - basically as fast as ListMail can queue messages.  If it doesn't, I'd like to know ways to speed up message sending such as (common) more remote connections, more queue folders, etc.

Regards

Hi DW,

I'm not a sendmail expert, but do recall seeing an excellent book on the subject - believe it's an O'Reilly book, that provided great detail on working with queues in sendmail...

You'd probably do better asking this question up on high tech webmaster sites...

Good luck, I hope you do find the best way to optimize LMP.
Thanks,
-Brett

Well I am not a HUGE sendmail expert but have been working with it long enough to know most of the quick and easy hits that will make the most diffirence.

As you may or may not remember, we worked together years ago to initially get the whole thing sending faster (way faster).  And I went from sendmail to  qmail and back to sendmail.

Anyway, contact me with that you have in mind.
