bounce.cgi actually doing its job?
« on: July 12, 2012, 04:39:04 pm »
im not sure that my bounce.cgi is working, via LMP i hit the test button and says its working.

I do get a TESTBOUNCE email in my bounce@ address
and i do get an email to my admin box saying smtp is configured correctly.

but if emails are being routed through bounce.cgi what exactly does it do? do emails still arrive in the bounce@ mailbox?

because they are at this moment. and with emails being handled by bounce.cgi how many emails have to pass through bounce.cgi before they are moved to the bounce list?

i have Use bounce.cgi, which must be configured. (Recommended) checked

and i have
Bounce to email address filled out with my bounce@ address
Delete users if they bounce i have filled out to 2 times in 30 days.

The TESTBOUNCE email is supposed to be processed automatically triggering a "bounce.cgi Success!" email to the Administrator Email.  If you are checking email and seeing the TESTBOUNCE message, then the email is not being automatically forwarded to the bounce.cgi script as expected.  When bounce.cgi is enabled and configured properly you will not be checking the mailbox manually or seeing any messages that way.  Please see the Online Help at http://listmailpro.com/help/cgi for how forwarding email to CGI script is accomplished on various servers.  You may need to contact your web host to see if this feature is supported or possible for you.
