hosting for listmailpro
« on: September 02, 2004, 09:55:50 am »
I just about have all the bugs worked out of my new dedicated server.  My question to all the customers of ListMail Pro is how many would be interested in hosting your list on my new server.

I don't know how much it would cost but I thought if we could setup a listmailpro dedicated server we could all just host on that server.  I could manage it.  It might be a win win for all.

If you are inerested post here and let me know how big your list is and how big you plan to get it over the next year or so.  We can work out the details later.

What I like about having the application on my own server is the following:

Only I have access to the database (private information is secured - sort of).
I'm responsible for my own back-ups.
I have access to the administration section to create e-mails and work in the application (make updates).
It is VERY easy to use and run and uses little bandwidth and little space.

So I'm not certain that you would find users interested. With that said, there may be a demand from businesses that don't wnat to handle the list or create the e-mail marketing pieces so you can roll that up into a business model.

Be careful not to accept too many ListMail users to your hosting service.  I don't recommend more than a million subscribers per server.  Optimizations to the configuration of your mailer software may need to be done to achieve reasonable performance.
