LMP mail going into JUNK / SPAM boxes...
« on: October 31, 2008, 08:48:47 am »
I want to be very clear...

I have been with LMP for several years and I really like the
product, tech support, etc. and I want to make my sites as
good as I can...

I was reading a report from someone and they recommended two
other email / auto-responder companies for the following reason...

"The reason I recommend these two companies so highly is
because they are the standard in the email marketing business.
They’ve spent YEARS perfecting their technology so our email
will end up in our prospects inbox and not their spam folder"!

My question is...

Is there something I can do with my LMP that will make less of my
LMP email's go into the Spam folder as mentioned about the other
companies above?

Thank you,

DW

It is possible some hosted services have agreements with providers to stay out of the spam folder.  These are services that have monthly and volume-related fees.  ListMail is a "do-it-yourself" program that can be installed on the host(s) of your choice.  Your reputation is up to you (and other clients on the same server) and your (or your hosts) relationship with the various providers.   In my experience delivery can be quite good with shared hosting and especially with your own dedicated server (~$80/mo).  It's important to have a host that is knowledgeable about email, polices their users, deals with spam complaints, monitors system mail logs for major/lengthy blocks, etc.  This can be time consuming with unruly users, but the two hosts I recommend have been around for some time and seem to be faring ok.

I think the best/only way to stay out of the spam folder is simply to receive and maintain a very low complaint-rate.  With your own dedicated server, I believe it is also possible to contact hosts like Yahoo and have your email completely exempt from the spam folder.  This is normally only an option if no other users/companies are using the same server.

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience of avoiding the Junk Folder in recipients MS Outlook programme?

Is there any way of measuring the 'spam index' of an intended email?

There may be some software available that will run your message through a system like SpamAssassin, such as this one:

Thanks Deane,

This software requires an .eml file to interogate.
Can ListMail export such a file?

Thanks
Ian
