MySQL Errors with version 1.87?
« on: August 29, 2006, 09:16:31 am »
Hi,

Ok, I've upgraded to v. 1.87 from v. 1.86, I'm now getting these errors:
Quote
Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /home3/mydomaindir/mydomainwww/mail/admin.php on line 2960
Could not connect to MySQL. Please check your MySQL database, username, password, and permissions and set up ListMail's config.php
MySQL Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

I don't remember EVER seeing this before, also, I tried the page, again and again, after about 3 re-tries, I tried logging in through my control panel at my host where I saw a message that said 'No database is configured' - you can imagine my SHOCK AT SEEING That!

I re-tried and was able to login using PhpMyAdmin, then went back to LMP where I got in just fine?

I never saw these errors before - have you CHANGED the way the MySql Connection works?  Also, note I had the same problems (MySQL dropped connection) when I upgraded...

Any idea(s) what is going on here?
Thanks,
-Brett

MySQL Errors with version 1.87?

That error message indicates the server's MySQL service has crashed... Perhaps that's what happened with your database update - the server went down in the middle of it.  I would have said the service might have been restarted but if that were the case it would return right away...

Your server may be saying 'no database configured' because of the MySQL server being down.  Your host may need to issue a manual repair of the database files...  This might be required if they happened to accidentally shut the power off, etc.
