php mail report
« on: March 28, 2007, 02:47:01 am »
hi,

I'm using php to send my mailing as there is an hourly sending limit with my host.

The thing is how do i know if all my emails have been sent. Is there a way of getting a report.

my list is about 4000 and i know php is not the best option to send to a list of that size.

Roll on smtp throttling!!!

thanks

The situation in this case would be similar with SMTP...  There is no reporting to know if your messages "ACTUALLY" get sent.

I could go on and on about many things in this category but I won't.

Of course SMTP is still obviously WAY better to use...

You can see final delivery rates if you have access to the system mail logs.  A tool I have used to determine rates quickly is sawmill log analyzer from http://sawmill.net.  The software is insanely overpriced, however it seems to me that their 30 day free trial can be installed and then re-installed again if necessary (I can't recommend this:) )  The tool lets you see success/failure rates for specific "From" addresses and much more.
