Process for Creating Multiple Lists
« on: March 13, 2007, 04:19:56 am »
Hi Dean,

I'm sure this is a simple question, but the docs aren't real clear on this and an example is worth a thousand words.

I'm in the midst of transferring all my various autoresponder lists over to ListMailPro. I've cleaned up all the lists so they should IMPORT with no problems.

Now here's my issue. I need to cretae about 50 lists or so where each list contains certain lists of names.

What exactly is the process for creating these lists for ListMailPro so that when I do an import the ListMailPro system will recognize those lists as having been created ?

Please advise and I will be on my way...

Thanks

Christopher

Christopher,

Currently there is not an easy way to automatically create lists.  You will need to create each list, set it as the current list and click "Import Users" from the User Database page to add users to that list.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!

Ok Dean,

I've manually created a list for each autoresponder and imported all the names into each list. Now I'm curious...

Do I need to create a signup-list1.cgi for each autoresponder list ? if the only way to get onto that list is via a SIGN-UP form ?

So if list #5 requires a sign-up form that would be
signup-list5.cgi ???

and of course the file would specify list #5 in the .cgi script.

Please advise..

Christopher,

Web-host-supporting email signup is setup similar to bounce.cgi - it's a bit tricky!  Most people simply use an HTML signup form on their web site. ("List Settings" -> "Signup Code") - will that be fine for you?

Hi Dean,

I've got say 5 different lists created in ListMailPro.

List #1,
List #2,
List #3,
List #4,
and
List #5

What do I actually have to have setup on ListMailPro in order that
I can actually send a Broadcast to any of these lists...

SPECIFIC DETAILS would help a ton. An example would be worth alot here.  What needs to be in place on the server to make this a reality?

Thanks

Christopher

I'm not Dean, but I will see if I can help.

Every list you make you must also have a signup-list.cgi
so in you case, you would have:
signup-list1.cgi
signup-list2.cgi
signup-list3.cgi
signup-list4.cgi
signup-list5.cgi

Of course you will have to configure each one as explained
in the README.txt

I hope that helps.

Neil, I think we're skipping past "email signup" now but thanks for your reply.

You can send a "one-time" email to your entire list at any time with the "Send Email" button on the left ListMail main menu.

You can also set up selections under "User Selection", save them and, again, use the "Send Email" feature to send an email to a selection.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
